Bible Stories for Kids: 8 Inspiring People from the Bible

July 02, 20244 min read

The Bible is full of amazing stories that teach valuable lessons. It's easy to think of these stories as "children's" stories, but in reality, they're good for adults, too.

These stories are filled with bravery, faith, and miracles. They are the things that capture hearts and imaginations.

In my store, I have a set of Bible stories printables that feature courageous people. This set doesn't just include Bible passages. It also has journal prompts so your child can write about what they learned.

To take it one step further, I thought I'd write a brief description of each person in this set.

Daniel and the Lion's Den

Daniel's story is a powerful example of faith and courage. The king wanted everyone to pray to him. He created a law that if anyone prayed to a different god, then they would be thrown into the lions' den.

Daniel continued to pray to God. As a result, he was thrown into a lion's den.

However, God sent an angel to shut the lions' mouths, and Daniel emerged unharmed.

After hearing this story over and over, it's easy to think of it as just a "story." But I can only imagine what it must have been like for him. He shows us that no matter what happens in life, we can always choose to follow God.

David and Goliath

David and Goliath is one of the most famous Bible stories.

The Philistine giant, Goliath, had been terrorizing the Israelites. Everyone was too afraid to go against him.

But David chose to trust God. He knew that the same God that helped him kill a bear and a lion would also help him kill Goliath.

Because he knew that God was the one who would defeat Goliath, he chose to do what looked like the impossible.

Noah and the Ark

Noah's story is a testament to obedience and trust in God's direction. God instructed Noah to build an ark to save his family and two of every animal species from a great flood.

Despite the ridicule from others, Noah followed God's command. The flood came, but Noah, his family, and the animals were safe on the ark.

God's instructions a lot of times seem crazy. But that's the point. He wants us to obey so he can show the world what he is capable of and so that he will get the glory.

Nehemiah Rebuilds Jerusalem's Walls

Nehemiah's determination to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem teaches about perseverance and leadership. And that when God tells you to do something, he will get behind it and perform the impossible.

Because that's what this was. These people built the walls all the way around Jerusalem in 52 days. Think about that one for a minute.

They didn't have the machinery we have today. The difference was, God was behind it.

Sometimes, what God asks us to do seems impossible. But he wants us to persevere. He wants us to follow through and get the job done.

He will get the glory. He wants us to shake our heads in awe at what he managed to do!

Queen Esther Saves Her People

Queen Esther's bravery is highlighted in her story. As a Jewish queen in Persia, she risked her life to save her people from a decree that would have annihilated them.

She chose to do her part, no matter risky it was! As a result, God used her to save the Jewish people from destruction.

Mary, the Mother of Jesus

Mary's story is central to the New Testament and offers a profound example of faith and obedience.

She was chosen by God to be the mother of Jesus. But she also chose to believe that God would take care of her.

Her story teaches children about the importance of accepting God's will. And it also teaches the role of faith in our lives.

The Three Hebrew Boys: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego's story takes place in the book of Daniel. It is one of steadfast faith. Refusing to bow down to a golden statue, they were thrown into a fiery furnace.

God protected them. they emerged unscathed, proving that God's power is greater than any earthly threat. This story encourages kids to stand firm in their beliefs.

Gideon, the Mighty Warrior

Gideon's story demonstrates that God can use anyone to achieve His purposes. Chosen to lead the Israelites against the Midianites, Gideon was initially hesitant.

However, with God's guidance, he led a small army to victory against a much larger force.

His story teaches children that God can work through them, regardless of their perceived limitations.

These eight Bible stories for kids are more than just "stories"; they are lessons in faith, courage, and trust in God.

Through these examples, children can learn virtues that will guide them throughout their lives.

Encouraging kids to read and reflect on these stories can help instill a strong moral foundation and a deep sense of faith.
